Zions Trip

This was our second family vacation. The first was to Roosevelt the weekend before conference and that car ride was not preferred. Devon cried a lot and hardly slept and to make it worse, we had to pull off to feed him on the side of the road where cars were passing us in which I was thinking, "crap, i just passed that semi and I won't be able to pass him again so I'll be stuck behind him forever". So, we decided we needed to do things differently this time like plan a specific place to stop where Devon can get fresh air and eat. Also, it is nice to have a two lane road all the way down (except in when we hit construction around Beaver but that didn't last long thank goodness). So on the road we went and Devon did lots better this time around. He woke up once crying for food and that was in Beaver and then made it all the way down without a peep. Once we got there Micah had already set up our tent which was so nice so we just stuck all of our stuff in there and got our beds ready just in time for Devon's next feeding. That night we had chicken, potatoes, carrots, and rolls dutch oven style. It was delicious. Unfortunately, the bees decided to share our campsite with us, and since I am terrified of them, I dropped my food on the ground trying to escape them. Later that night we played with glow sticks, talked stories, and roasted mellows and put them on peanut butter cups and graham crackers(aka peanut butter smores). That night was perfect. Devon only woke up once and that was at 4am to eat and went back to sleep. The next morning we ate breakfast (pancakes, fruit, sausage)and then took a bus to Temple of Sinatra trail. We walked to the end where the trail connects with the narrows and played in the water there, fed Devon, and ate snacks. Unfortunately I forgot my camera so there are no pictures but it was beautiful. Hopefully Mandy can show some of her pictures she took on her blog. Then we went back to the campsite where we got ready for lunch and ate. The weather was perfect. After lunch, we talked and some boys went on another hike and we went to visit the river where Spencer did a back flip into the water and we saw the cutest frogs and the kids were playing in the sand. It was a blast. After, we ate dinner (chili and rolls). It was a blast. I went to bed early with Spencer and Devon did another great job at sleeping at night. Only woke up once. Then the sad morning came when we had to pack up and leave. It was so fun being there and seing friends and family. It was also fun to share the tent with Micah and Mandy and family. I can't wait until next year to do it again :)
